Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When is the ideal time to move?
The ideal time for a move depends on various factors – atmospheric conditions, holidays, government regulations, and moving policies. You should try to avoid peak season, if possible (summers and year-end). On a personal level, you should consider the urgency of the move, children’s education, and other family priorities. Better planning leads to a stress-free move.

How much time does the entire moving process take?
It depends on many factors, like the time of move, shipment size, distance, and the choice of mover and packer. At Arrow Vanline, we offer consultation before executing a plan for your move. The time duration is estimated thereafter – and strictly adhered to.

How can I cut down my expenses?
Advance planning can save you hundred of dollars. Moving companies usually charge high for last minute jobs, and in peak season. Do not plan your move on busy days. Moreover, reduce the load and plan a garbage sale before moving. You can also go for “partial packing” services to reduce expenses.

What is the right time to begin packing?
Packing is a time-consuming affair and you should start as early as possible. This saves any last minute hurry. Packing a few days before the main day helps you manage your affairs better. It also makes you comfortable and reduces stress. So, once you are sure about moving, you should plan, and then start packing!

How can I choose a reliable moving company?
Check that the chosen moving company is bonded, licensed and insured. You should be clear about the total expenditure of your move. Track down the history and record of the moving company. Talk to the concerned person and ask pertinent questions. Find out the company’s liability policy and whether you are covered or not.

Is there any additional cost for packing material?
Any supplementary material that you use for your packing needs is charged additionally.

When is the payment due and how do you accept payment?
You will need to pay at the place of destination, before unloading of shipment. We accept all major cards, like (Names), as well as checks.

What is partial packing and full packing?
Partial packing means packing of a few items only. These items can comprise some of your belongings like TV sets, fragile items, upholstered furniture, etc. However, full packing means that our team will pack everything for you. You will only have to take care of your documents and valuables.

Why is insurance necessary after valuation?
Insurance offers much needed protection from unexpected circumstances over which one has no control.

What does valuation protection mean?
It is the maximum protection for which a moving company is liable in case of any damage during transit. It is 60 cents per pound per item.

What if I need more packing material at the last moment?
Our truck comes fully loaded with all that you might need. At last moment if you require any packing material, it will be with our team.

How can I help the moving company?
You can help by being prepared on the day of moving. However, for insurance reasons, you are not allowed on the truck.

How can I cut down my expenses?
During each season, and most dramatically during peak season (End of April - Mid October), rates increase progressively. A common misconception is that money will be saved by moving on a weekday as opposed to a weekend day. Quite the contrary, your move cost is determined by the time you place your reservation, meaning the sooner you place reservation, the lower your rate will be. Sometimes we also implement promotional rates for high-traffic delivery regions, which should be taken advantage of at the time of the offer.

By placing a reservation early, you are simply freezing the lowest rate possible, not committing yourself to a date or even the move itself. While we do require a small deposit to freeze the rate, it is completely refundable within 72 hours leading up to the move date. This rate freeze will also allow unlimited rescheduling opportunities with no fee. In addition, over the phone and electronic modifications to the moving profile may be made up to 2 businesses prior to the pick-up date. This includes an address change. a date change, and even inventory updates.

What charges are not included?
Unless waived or otherwise specified by your representative, the following is a list of some potential additional charges not included in the cost above: stairs, long carry ( in the event that the truck is not reasonably accessible to the loading/unloading zone), shuttle (whenever a ferry is required or in other unusual situation when a truck is completely inaccessible to loading/unloading zone), unanticipated shipment volume, oversized items (such as motorcycles, poor tables, heavy machinery, etc.), and special packing service (other than customized moving pads which are complimentary and unlimited and a nominal number of free boxes).
